For Immediate Release Test Lab for Global Fashion
(Second Life, Aug. 8, 2009) The elegance and glamour of BOSL Fashion Week is the talk of the virtual world, especially in Second Life where couture designers from around the globe have converged on Couture Boulevard and Patch Thibaud Auditorium to dazzle audiences with their Fall 2009 lines. “This is a unique opportunity to showcase and see fashion trends that will soon sweep the virtual world and ultimately the real world,” said Best of SL CEO Frolic Mills, who recognizes many advantages to the virtual fashion industry. “It is amazing how many new designs on the real life runway have their roots in the virtual world,” Mills said. “This is a great environment to test what will sell and to do it in a competitive arena with a minimal investment of resources.” Thousands of fashion divas are experiencing a full schedule of runway shows over the coming week. All of this is free to those who wish to attend -- another boon for the fashion-starved public that has done much belt tightening in these tough economic times. Fashion Week Director Kay Fairey, who is a fashion writer in real life living in Tokyo, said “None of us are immune to the financial stresses that have swept the globe. But one of the very nice things about virtual fashion is that it is so affordable to outfit your avatar in the latest couture. We see many fashionistas turning to virtual reality to get their fashion fix.” The event kicked off today with the first of three new labels slated to debut during the week. The first show was Violator with designer Soraya Vaher. Other labels to be featured on four amazing new runways specially constructed for Fashion Week are Italian Couture at Renaissance Center, Milky House Japanese Couture at the Boulevard, the new shoe collection of Phoenix Rising and Nardcotix at PTA, KWZ by Kariwanz Felisimo at PTA, Nonna Hedges and Mami Jewell at Fantasy, and Lady Thera with Couture Art at PTA The week will culminate with a tribute to Coco Chanel on Aug. 16 and the show will be nothing short of spectacular. More than 20 designers will create their own fresh view on a favorite Chanel outfit, and one lucky avatar will walk away with the entire Chanel collection.
