Carnival Extravaganza IT WAS!

Butterfli Sorbet Modelling BOSTON WESTLAND

Oh La La, Fan me! Working up a sweat still from yesterday over at Boulevard Agency! 11-11:30amSLT, saw me amongst others, intrigued, inspired, and in loooove with designs that were being showcased in the BOSL Designer Challenge. Ive picked some of my favourite images from the event, which really caught the attention of my eyes!

This was the penultimate round of the Designer Challenge, and what a round it was. The spirit of the event was ‘Carnival’, and that is exactly what we got. And it could have been a carnival in itself! Hmmm…Frolic…i have an idea! But Anyway, as you can see in the pictures displayed, there are some amazing, creative, and colourful designs, that were shown to the public for the first time EVER, at yesterdays event!

The Models and Designers in this challenge, are listed below in no particular order:

1. Dancer Dallagio – APPLEBLOSSOM SITTINGBULL
2. Butterfli  Sorbet – BOSTON WESTLAND
3. Melanie Sautereau – CHIANERA CIOC
4. Marry Eel -  MEGHINDO ROMANO
5. Sora Tatham – MONICA OUTLANDER
6. Brittainy Collins – RAMONA PLANER
7. Sabine Blackburn – TALIA LEFAVRE

Now for me, the one that really got me going, was BOSTON WESTLAND! OMG that guy can design and create masterpieces! An extraordinary red/pink dress, with and amazing head piece, which really accompanied the dress…stunningly well infact!

Brittainy Collins Modelling RAMONA PLANER

Another that interested me, and took a really unique style than I’ve ever seen before, was a design by RAMONA PLANER. It reminded me of something i saw, when i used to watch the movie classic ‘The Hunchback of Notre Dame’. It had a classical, yet, modern feel to it, and was certainly something i would love to see people wearing at a party! Grabbed the attention of everyone in the room that’s for sure.

Sabine Blackburn Modelling TALIA LEFAVRE

And SABINE BLACKBURN who was modelling the most, incredible design i have ever seen really, and I’m into fashion alot! Especially here in Second Life. It was created by TALIA LEFARVRE, who really took on board colours! And too look at the dress from a distance, it looks stunning, but to get close to it, its Stunningly Stunning! Fish floating around the body, who would have thought of that!?! – But Hey, TALIA LEFAVRE did win yesterdays Challenge, and, rightly so i think! Although, every Designer had worked hard, and put alot of time and effort into the designs showcased, they are simply all geniuses of Creativity!

Love It! – Edi C

Dazzling Lady Thera

QUOTE:

Thera Taurog: Did you notice? People always look to be better on SL. The result is SL provides a better life to all of us:))

Thera is a warm and richly human person to chat to and it was my pleasure to catch up with her before her successful show today.

“You know the best sensation for me  doesn’t have to do with lindens.  I just love everytime I see a beautiful SL woman wearing something I did:))), that’s what drives me to make more.”

For those of you who missed today’s show, keep watching for the pics. It was without doubt the most creatively lovely fashion show I have seen this year. Congrats to Frolic and Nino who were responsible for all that wonderful visual stimulation.

And Lady Thera? Well she’s rather busy these days – happily so.

“I’ve decided to do only one [new design] per month because I got married a second time… And we wanted to enjoy other things on SL.”

Every happiness Thera from all of us at BOSL.

Talia Lefavre Art Featured in Eostara Gallery Exhibit

Best of SL Magazine writer and blogger Talia Lefavre is a person of many talents. Not only does she write excellent magazine articles and entertaining fashion blogs, she designs and creates beautiful virtual art.

A selection of Talia’s artwork is on exhibit at the Eostara Gallery, an attractive art exhibition gallery also currently featuring the works of Di Hoorenbeek, Winter Nightfire, Gracie Kendal, and Gwen Carillon. But I thought you might enjoy a “first look” at the art of Talia Lefavre here.

Eostara Gallery’s“Artist’s Bio” includes this glimpse into Talia’s artistic motivation.

“Colour for me is a language of its own. Not just to express feeling, but movement, and the inexpressible … the mysterious I suppose. Colour is also like a dance … it has to have suppleness and fluidity, sometimes bold, sometimes soft, but always moving in some way. As much as I enjoy the pics I load into Flickr, I prefer the freedom of impressionism, surrealism, and a slightly abstract approach to art, whether in RL or using graphics in SL.”

Talia, a warm and funny Australian in real life, and I talked for quite awhile a few nights ago after I visited the exhibit. I asked her how she got into creating virtual art. “I’ve been playing with colour and light since I could hold coloured pencils or a paintbrush. It’s been with me since I was little. I’d produce a painting that had gorgeous colours, but no movement, and no light. I was soooooo frustrated – we are talking about 8 years old here. So when I saw French impressionists like Monet, I went apes**t. And JMW Turner [18th Century English painter]…. well….he blew me out of the water. So I started layering oils in my 20s to see if I could in some way reproduce that incredible movement and light.”

Talia translated her physical art into graphic art because “I no longer have the space I need to play with art materials, so I play with all the same elements, but in graphics. And as you can see, most of my Second Life artworks are actually based on composite figures. I’m hooked on patterns with movement. I go for that even in my graphics, and I find it easier because I don’t have to wait for the paint to dry. :)

A different selection of the artwork of Talia Lefavre - a much more personal series – will be on display soon at her “Lillith Eve” exhibit at Destiny Blue Gallery.

And here’s a hint of something you fashionistas can look forward to. Talia whispered, “I’m also using some of these as textures on clothes. Wearable art. :)
