Where’s The Heel?

OMG, did Stiletto Moody really create a pair of stilettos without heels? Can we still call stilettos, ’stillettos’ without the heel? Was there a prim shortage in SL I was not aware of? Perhaps the borrowers took the heels?  Strangely,  I find myself breaking into song  /me sings “Oh where oh where has my high heel gone”,  (sung to the tune of oh where oh where has my little dog gone)…

Recently, Victoria Beckham and Uma Thurman were amongst the first IRL to shock the world with heelless stilettos.  These beautiful trendsetters started the trend in Rl and SL’s shoe Innovator, Stilletto Moody thought outside the box yet again to put  her mark in SL by gracing us with what we want..before we even knew it existed. Season after season Stilletto Moody brings her own  unique styling to SL.  She is constantly making strides keeping SL abreast of whats hot in the foot business.

But guess what Victoria Beckham and Uma Thurman?

MY FEET WONT  HURT! – come walk a mile in my Moodys!

Take a look at some of the buzz IRL about heelless heels…

DK – I think they’re totally cool! Anyone who’s ever tottered  around in 5-inch stilettos knows that the heel provides only the bare minimum support anyway. You can see that the base of this  shoe supports much farther back on the arch than a regular heel, so it probably wouldn’t be all that much less stable. It isn’t  as though anyone’s gonna go hiking in them. I’d love to try a  pair

S – These shoes are somewhat scary, yet I’m oddly attracted to them.

RC – I agree! Pretty cool for fashion photography

C – Awesome to look at

M – they do look cool

Marc Jacobs and Manolo Blahnik also introduced heelless  stilettos which have created quite a stir. Pink Stiletto Shop - Rl, states that “fashionistas think these heelless shoes are fresh and new and they want to try them.”

One RL designer stated that the shoes are attractive because  they force a woman to walk in a way that makes her look “quite dainty.”

Are you a trendsetter? If you are, you will feel an innate need to  bring this new red carpet wonder to the streets of SL.

Fun Fact – Heelless stilettos peeked into the fashion scene in  Italy in the 1950’s

Thursday, March 4th – Alexia Speizer ran out to get her first pair of heelless stilettos! Thanks Moody!

Stiletto Moody’s Hot List of 2009

THE LIST - _The Hot List 2009_550pxIn addition to her stunning shoes, Stiletto Moody has brought us The Hot List of 2009. Thank you to Stiletto for her continued love and support of both The Best of SL Magazine and the Miss Virtual World 2010 competition.

New from Stiletto Moody: Bare Ginger!

Stiletto Moody is simply the most famous and extraordinary shoe designer in Second Life. Always daring, always challenging her creative talent to new levels of style and excellence, hers are the shoes everyone yearns for.

Stiletto released today her final shoe of the pre-Winter season. Bare Ginger. And it’s incredible. I’ve reprinted her notice and photos below for you.

Stiletto Moody Bare Ginger 02

Available only at http://slurl.com/secondlife/Stiletto%20Moody%202/80/34/46

From Stiletto Moody:

Thank you 2009 for being the dangerous fashion year you have been. Thanks for delivering platform heels, previously the reserve of naughty nights in.
This year they are haute hot with everyone from Stiletto Moody, Gucci, YSL, Pucci, McQueen and others testing the boundaries of being dangerous, flirty and elegant in platforms. Thank you for delivering studs – fashion’s darling accessory of the seas. Oh how I have loved Bare Ava and the rock chique movement.

With Bare Katherine platforms atop your summer hit list – and that nasty rumour about TP problems proving to be nonsense – I decided that this delicious platform needed a sister in style and made you another. I kept it perilously high. I added a straight drop heel right out of Milan. I wrapped & strapped up the ankle. I mixed in some of my favourite patent leathers and colors…Voila!!

Stiletto Moody Bare Ginger!

Stiletto Moody Bare Ginger 01

So let’s see you teetering out and about in a couture creation that makes you feel both safe and sexy, whether its the CFDA awards or the after party down town at your favourite VIP club filled with gorgeous people and many Martinis.

Tell your friends that I am about to open membership enrollment again and that now is the time to belong. You got my anniversary gift, I hope; well, that’s not the only reason you want to be inside the ropes at Stiletto Moody Shoes. Watch this space and my twitters from Stiletto Moody, ‘cause the big holiday season is approaching.

A big thanks for making it a wonderful & memorable anniversary where the only thing you paid for was the TP taxi down to the Stiletto Moody boutique to your Anniversary gift “Stiletto Moody BARE Lana (Anniversary) – never to be made in Badseed red again, never to be seen with the gold heart logo again. Keep it for your vintage collection. Due to ongoing demand from members who have not picked it up yet, I will leave the Anniversary shoe up for you to take for one more day. I think you are all wonderful, and your wishes for my pregnancy have been a joy and support. Now let’s have some more fun – the holidays are coming.

Discovering Donna Flora

It’s funny how seemingly random events can lead you into something completely unexpected and delightful. A modeling agency I work with recently asked me to script an upcoming fashion show which would feature the latest design releases from Donna Flora. Before that job I had never been to the store, nor was I aware of the brand, so I decided to check it out.

What a feast for the eyes! Squinternet Larnia’s designs are stunning conceptually, but what really floored me was the quality. I shop for clothes here in SL with two criteria: One, that they be fashionable and something I enjoy wearing; and two, that they be good quality designs. I work hard for my lindens, and I don’t want to buy something, only to be so disappointed by the quality of the work that I never wear it.

Donna Flora clothes are so gorgeous that I went on a shopping spree…and then decided to make this post on three of my favorite designs that I found.

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Garman/205/99/102

Karen Pants Outfit (Donna Flora)

The first outfit is Donna Flora’s “Karen Pants.” This outfit can be bought in both skirt and pant versions (I chose the pants). The high-waisted pants are accented by four black buttons and look fantastic. If you look closely at the picture, you can see the detail in both the jacket and the ruffles of the shirt. The first time I put the outfit on, I found myself camming around myself and staring, just being completely vain. I couldn’t get enough of myself…hehe. The outfit is completed with a beautiful and delicate lace scarf. To complete the ensemble, I’m wearing Stiletto Moody “Black Patent” shoes and “127 in Silver” earrings by Kraftika, “Single Lady” hair from Exile and Laqroki’s “Carina Skin Peach Glow #2.”

Nicoletta Mini (Donna Flora)

This next Donna Flora design is called “Nicoletta Mini.” I love this one – it’s a cozy winter outfit, but with attitude. The colors are so soft that they would suit anyone. But once again, what floored me the most was the dedication to detail in the knit sweater top. It’s flawless. I also love the plum-colored mini/sweater bottom that drapes nicely over the short leather-style shorts. It’s both fun and flirty…two adjectives that I use a lot when i dig though my inventory trying to find the perfect outfit to wear.

Paired with this outfit are an amazing pair of boots that my SL partner actually found for me….I squealed with delight when I saw what fantastic taste he had. These “Venice Worn Brown” boots are from Kitties Lair, and they are of extremely high quality without breaking your SL budget. I wear these with many outfits, as they are so versatile. Finishing off the look is Laqroki “Carina Skin Number 6″ and Exile’s “Kaori” hair. This short spiky hairdo is one of the reasons that Exile has recently become one of my favorite places to shop for hair. As someone with a serious hair fetish, I find their hair to be not only affordable, but very realistic and high quality.

RINA outfit (Donna Flora)

This final outfit is my favorite of all: “Rina” from Donna Flora. If you are dreading going outside this winter, put on this cozy but sophisticated suit from Donna Flora, and you’ll never fear the cold outdoors again. This ensemble comes in three clothing options. Wear it as a full dress, or pants suit…or, if you’re feeling extra flirty, suit up in the mini dress version. Take a close look at the detailed knit of this dress/pant suit and the scarf like belt that cinches the waist, and you’ll know that this is a one of a kind outfit that MUST be added to your own personal wardrobe. From the inviting earthtones of the dress to the high turtle neck collar, this design invokes “sophisticated woman” with every step you take. Ward away the chills with the gorgeous knitted hood that includes hair in three shades, and you are ready for a snuggly day with that special someone. Since this outfit comes with nearly everything a woman needs for a complete ensemble, I just needed to add a good pair of shoes – “Chi Chi Pumps” in Brown Velvet by Maitreya.

I encourage you to visit the Donna Flora store for yourself…it truly does not disappoint.

Love and Sunshine,

Occasus

‘An Elegant Affair’–BOSL’s tribute to Coco Chanel

In the pantheon of fashion gods, one name rules above all others. A woman who was a pioneer, a rebel–a woman of unswerving self-belief; lover of many, truly known by few. The name is Mademoiselle Coco Chanel. Controversial throughout her life, Chanel created elegant yet simple clothes; garments that shocked and astounded in equal measure. A true innovator, her name still resonates, continually inspiring fashion designers in both real and virtual worlds to strive for excellence.

Coco Chanel 1

Paying tribute to Coco and her enduring legacy, twenty of SL’s most prestigious fashion houses were invited to design key pieces that would simultaneously define their own style and echo that of the great designer herself. Once again, the luxuriant setting of the Patch Thibaud Auditorium was the setting for this, the Grand finale to the ‘Best of Second Life Magazine’ fashion week. With its beautiful art deco furnishings, you could almost sense the ghost of Chanel herself-watching with approval from one of the balconies as the show began.

Coco Chanel 17

As the red velvet curtains drew back, a spectacular stage was revealed based on a Chanel shop front with stunning models from the Boulevard Agency, silhouetted against a Parisian sky. There were gasps from the huge assembled audience. The magnificence of the stage left us all spellbound as Cheri Parker, our welcoming host for the event, introduced the models. The evening’s entertainment, singer Elvera Lerner, serenaded us with her melodious voice, singing a selection of show tunes and Cole Porter classics, thus providing the perfect soundtrack to the supremely glamorous atmosphere.

Coco Chanel 16

The real stars of the show were the clothes themselves and the designers exceeded all expectations. Variations of Chanel classics such as the little black dress were given futuristic flourishes such as swirling fur trim and layers of opalescent tulle.  Chanel’s trademark pearls were encrusted over tight bodices. Her other signature design statement, tweed, was given a contemporary twist and featured on cropped jackets and headwear. Naturally, an emphasis on traditional Chanel colors of dynamic white and black featured heavily throughout, but each designer managed to make the creations their very own, imbuing the clothes with the essence of Chanel yet creating their own unique styles. Enhancing the clothes even further, footwear was provided by the incomparable Stiletto Moody, the perfect shoes to wear with any Chanel-inspired creation.

Coco Chanel 7

Even when the hour-long catwalk show was over, the excitement did not end, as the CEO of BOSL, Frolic Mills took to the stage, accompanied by all the participating models. Standing on top of a glistening white carousel, Mr. Mills announced to the thrilled audience, which included a huge selection luminaries from the SL fashion scene such as Raven Pennyfeather, Applonia Criss, Jarl Soderstrom and Mimi Juneau, that one lucky audience member would receive the entire collection. After calling out a selection of Chanel related questions in local chat, it was declared that the winner of this glittering prize was Nino Heartsdale who told me that she was “overwhelmed, stunned and completely delighted at winning these exquisite clothes”.  This show was undeniably a resounding triumph for all those involved and a fitting homage to Coco Chanel–a woman whose designs shaped the way we all dress today.
