OMG, did Stiletto Moody really create a pair of stilettos without heels? Can we still call stilettos, ’stillettos’ without the heel? Was there a prim shortage in SL I was not aware of? Perhaps the borrowers took the heels?  Strangely,  I find myself breaking into song  /me sings “Oh where oh where has my high heel gone”,  (sung to the tune of oh where oh where has my little dog gone)…

Recently, Victoria Beckham and Uma Thurman were amongst the first IRL to shock the world with heelless stilettos.  These beautiful trendsetters started the trend in Rl and SL’s shoe Innovator, Stilletto Moody thought outside the box yet again to put  her mark in SL by gracing us with what we want..before we even knew it existed. Season after season Stilletto Moody brings her own  unique styling to SL.  She is constantly making strides keeping SL abreast of whats hot in the foot business.

But guess what Victoria Beckham and Uma Thurman?

 MY FEET WONT  HURT! – come walk a mile in my Moodys!

DK – I think they’re totally cool! Anyone who’s ever tottered  around in 5-inch stilettos knows that the heel provides only the bare minimum support anyway. You can see that the base of this  shoe supports much farther back on the arch than a regular heel, so it probably wouldn’t be all that much less stable. It isn’t  as though anyone’s gonna go hiking in them. I’d love to try a  pair

S – These shoes are somewhat scary, yet I’m oddly attracted to them.

Marc Jacobs and Manolo Blahnik also introduced heelless  stilettos which have created quite a stir. Pink Stiletto Shop - Rl, states that “fashionistas think these heelless shoes are fresh and new and they want to try them.”

One RL designer stated that the shoes are attractive because  they force a woman to walk in a way that makes her look “quite dainty.”

Are you a trendsetter? If you are, you will feel an innate need to  bring this new red carpet wonder to the streets of SL.

This Valentine had some consequences, hadn’t it? There is a rosebud in my soul that exploded in flower this morning at the sweet hour of the dew falling…so I put it on sandals to share it with you…Wow! No. 24 are sandals with ankles, feet and a great realistic and detailed rose with dew Extreme heels that flow in an allusive spirals and leads the looks along the thin ankles and up along the legs…you always wished to have:

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen … (yes, Sir, you too, because my shoes, even if they are for ladies’ legs, they are ultimately for your eyes, so…your also welcome at the tonight story…), as you now, our Real Lives are somehow national, and ethnically determined…so, we all enjoy importing Holydays!!! I Personally I would never refuse an extra Santa, so I gathered about 4 Christmas to celebrate with my family, a few New Ear’s Eves (yes, the Chinese one too, aren’t the Dragons fluffy and cute?), and above all, I cherish my 2 Love Days, the Saint Valentine’s Day on 15th and my national Dragobete on 25th of February. Yes, you may have a good laugh thinking that Dragobete comes from “to drag” and imagine him and her dragging each other somewhere (I will not say where)! So, I will let you laugh and not translate anything for you…enough to say that we celebrate it by laughter and jokes…Rules are simple: you have a good laughter that day…you will have good luck in love…if you happen to be sad that day, you will probably end up by making money instead!
But Saint Valentine is different; first of all it’s a religious holyday, and a good opportunity to feel in love…but seriously! Hey, it’s s about marriage; it’s about finding the love of your life…not just the second-love of your second life…that’s what I had to learn to adopt the new catholic Holyday: Saint Valentine was a priest who used to marry couples…so, ups! I had to meditate a lot before I would dare to dedicate my shoes to this day…I had to carefully choose the multi-faceted rubies cut in a shape of a heart…two hearts…and I wrapped them in delicate laces of precious metals, like ribbons that bond the hearts together in a vow…and I kept all triviality for the extreme heels and for the platforms in female shape…I smiled making the ankles count in the overall look, because this one was for the gentlemen…so now, their look can slide from your toes up to the Heavens along your legs…they totally transform the shape, now that there is no ugly potato-ankle to hide…look at the Wow! No. 23:

So…I was making shoes and I was thinking about sensuality and how to make a good design to express that particular feeling when a hot glance meets another fire glance and both worlds melt around and begin to swirl somehow mixing together like two waves of incandescence…so I took some precious metals and ribbons and I made them dance in spirals until the ice of the winter melt in diamonds…so, these are my Wow! No. 22, made accidentaly in my dizziness of meditation about love…

And now, right after the commercials, the promised tale…Once upon the times, I (the blonde me) conspired with myself (the dark me) to make a blogger of (the red-haired) me… LeLutka is to blame for this mixture of ruffled hairs…The glory of my day was that “JENIFFER” wig, and it is so mod that I felt challenged to guess the color of the angels’ curls…and yes, I turned from the art galleries carrying this painting…For those of you who have the feeling that the Cherubs are planning a prank…well, that’s a detail of one of Raphael’s Madonna paintings, so I hope they wouldn’t dare…would they?

And so, I began to look for some Fashion House for angels…they impressed me by having nothing to wear…that’s the naked truth about them: no server-wide inventories, not even the pink newbie dotted dress…and deeply sunken in these thoughts, I went to visit Meghindo Romano’s store, because she won The BOSL Designer Challenge contest for 2010. Isn’t she good at making an apparition of any lady?

The charismatic Meghindo Romano creates gowns that are exceptional, not subtle or for the faint of hearted. Her gowns are what you would expect to see on the red carpets for the awards shows. She is sensitive to the Avatar Rendering Cost and aware of it, so if you want to go to a happy-laggy- event, dress from Meghindo’s collections. When standing in a crashing hurricane, you will keep your feet firmly on the ground and let the gentlemen load you in a second and forever…just to feel they second-live happily ever after…

It is high noon and overhead in an azure, cloudless sky the sun beats down scorching the ground underfoot. This is a desolate landscape-no trees or visible source of water, just a relentless plateau of barren, cracked earth as far as the eye can see. As a lizard scuttles across your path, the deep throb of rhythmic tribal drumming punctuates the deserts silence-beckoning you closer. Through the heat haze emerges a breath taking sight-an encampment of dreamers, flamboyant dancers, blue skinned men pounding the skins of a hundred drums, cyborgs and artists who paint the sky with flames. Welcome to the legend that is ‘Burning Man.’

‘Burning Man’ is an annual Real Life celebration of art, culture and music which gathers together some of the most creative and innovative people on the planet. Held in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada, a temporary city is constructed using materials brought in by residents and at its heart stands a colossal wooden effigy of a man which is always burnt on the final night of the celebrations. This is a fleeting, transient festival where people are encouraged to be fully involved and to express themselves freely as part of a creative community. It has been the source of inspiration to many, including Second Life’s founder, Phillip Linden, who attended ‘Burning Man’ back in 1999 when he was still developing ‘Linden World’-the online community that would later evolve into Second Life. So it’s no surprise that each year, the ‘Burning Man’ festival is replicated here in SL too, where we know it as ‘Burning Life’. Like its Real Life counterpart, this virtual event also brings together artists, musicians and cyber space gypsies in a massive week long tribute to this spectacular festival.

Now in its 7th year, Burning Life continues to impress, with many artists working all year round to create unique artworks specifically for this event and at every turn, digital art works leave the viewer staring in wonderment. Bryn Oh, the celebrated Canadian artist, has created ‘Vessel’s Dream’ a fully immersive piece based on her own poem ‘Lilac’. Bryn tells me “There are some things in the real world which drive one to seek the solitude of the virtual world” This is a magical build requiring the visitor to use their camera controls to fully explore its complexity. Prefer your art with a Sci Fi twist? Then “Strange Repulsors” by Feathers Boa is a must see. A ‘reactive’ robot scrap yard, it appears that giant robots have invaded Earth causing mayhem and destruction. Feathers laughs as she tells me “The robots have invaded and there’s been a terrible accident. Everything’s fallen apart! But as you explore you’ll find everything leaping away from you. Seems you’re wearing an invisible anti-gravitation suit! Have fun!”

Other jaw dropping installations from artists such as Poid Mahovlich, Ub Yifu, Misprint Thursday and Alizarin Goldflake mean you can easily spend a whole day simply exploring the world’s finest virtual artworks, but there are many other attractions to Burning Life too. Music is a central part of the Real Life festivities and this year, Mankind Tracer, SL’s premier rock musician kicked off the celebrations with a scorching set. Over the week, many other SL musicians, dancers and particle creators will all be contributing to this epic community event, so make sure you see Burning Life for yourself before it disappears into the flames for another year.

Aug 11th – 3 pm SLT: Milky House – Japanese Couture at its best!

Mixtures of blue and white glass pagodas line the runway at Boulevard Agency, complimented by hanging light fixtures and beautifully engraved walls of japanese flowers. Singing birds surround the venue combining classic Japanese style with modern fashion. This is Milky House: Japanese couture at its best and showcasing their most gorgeous and elegant kimonos to ever grace the grid.

Guests were already arriving more than an hour prior to the start of the show. In attendance were top fashion designers, Boulevard Agency Models and Modavia Agency Models. Behind the scenes, the models as well as director Kay Fairey, Boulevard CEO, were making last minute preparations, walking the runway a few times to ensure a show the audience would never forget.

Giela Delpaso, the incredible and gorgeous host read meticiously from the well-planned out script prepared by none other then, our own BOSL Magazine Managing Editor, Breezie Noel. The Boulevard Agency Models showcase four outfits apiece. It is no suprise why Miss Virtual World Mimmi Boa as well as Gamp Lane, Nemi McCoy, Bunny Tomorrow, Mui Mukerji and Kay Fairey were chosen: their elegance, poise and sophsication  only compliment the brightly colored and beautifully textured kimonos designed by Sequanna Kidd of Milky House.
Designer Sequanna Kidd has taken the Second Life’s fashion world by storm, combining the concept of haute couture with her traditional and modern Japanese clothing for men and women. As each model graced the runway, each Kimono more gorgeous then the last. As the show continued is no wonder why people believe, that Kimono is the Japanese word for clothing but in Second Life, Milky House Kimono means Style!
As the show neared its closing, the Kimonos were simply breathtaking, fit for a young princess. The brightness of the colors and the richness of the textures shined beautifully as the models gracefully made their way down the runway.  Sequanna combined Japanese traditions into the kimonos such as the one worn by Boulevard Agency Model, Mui Mukerji. ‘Hana-Temari’ in Gold, the sleeves of this lovely kimono are Hiki-Furisode, the long sleeves traditionally worn by young, unmarried women and the brightly colored, dress-style kimono that Boulevard Agency Model, Nemi McCoy signifying the hope for an early spring.

Words can never express how beautiful and amazing the richness of the colors or the feel of the soft, flowing textures against your skin. These intricate, breathtaking kimonos speak for themselves and as the Milky House designer, Sequanna Kidd has certainly set the standard with her very first production, showcased at Boulevard Agency on a stunning venue, designed by Patch Adams and BOSL CEO, Frolic Mills.

I have been taking advantage of some extra time recently to have some pictures made and work on my own photography skills, but in actuality it is just an excuse to buy poses and props. I am addicted to buying poses, and I blame Essential Soul. 

Essential Soul’s pose collections are original, diverse and full of personality – they have pretty much anything to suit any occasion perfectly – including entire collections devoted to weddings, couples, models, men, women, groups, families, gay, lesbian, etc.

I was on Flickr this past weekend, and I saw Essential Soul’s newest poses and thought I’d share three of them.

First pose in the line up is part of their group pose collection called *ES* Bad Boys Band. Bad Boys Band is a group pose for up to 10 people (5 Girls/5 Men) with a hide show function on the pose balls. This pose has attitude and will likely be a favorite for photographers.

 *ES* Newest Addition is a new family pregnancy pose featuring a pregnant mom, dad and child (unisex). This tender pose is part of Essential Soul’s family collection and is perfect for new avatar families that want to document their lives together.

The third is *ES* Sexy Circus. Sexy Circus is a sensual pose designed for 3 friends. Its a fun pose created by Essential Soul’s colleague, Blink Pinion.

Swaffette Firefly of SF Design passed me a couple of outfits Tuesday.

The first one is chippendale style- an homage to the all-male revue Chippendale uniforms. The outfit is comprised of leather pants and thong, with prim arm and leg cuffs, shoes, and collar – all in multiple sizes to accommodate most body shapes. As usual, Swaffette hits the mark with her textures, especially in the pants which are offered in buttoned and slightly opened versions. Whether you buy it for a novelty, or a party, or even a themed photograph – it’s a fun, well-made outfit and will not disappoint.

The second item is the performance suit in charcoal. Too many suits in Second Life look like they were airbrushed on an avatar when worn, but not the performance suit – the textures are detailed and stand out giving it the realistic feel I like with clothing. Offered in multiple colors and with many layer and prim options, the performance suit can be worn in several different styles: collar buttoned with tie, open collar with loosened tie, or open collar with the tie undone, etc. Pants cuffs, collar, and back flap all come in varying sizes, but in case you do need to resize the prims they are scripted to make it easy, and SF Design includes detailed resizing instructions on notecard as usual.

This past Sunday I took DeMerick out for his birthday. I wanted us to do something we have never done before in Second Life. We have gone clubbing, to parties, biking, driving, and many other activities, but there is one date ritual that was previously impossible due to the constraints of this virtual platform – go out to eat at a restaurant. So after asking around a bit, I discovered the Lighthouse restaurant. The Lighthouse is located on Fire Island, an enduring Second Life landmark.

Owned and operated by Cooper Udimo, the Lighthouse bills itself as “A beautiful restaurant in an old 19th century lighthouse on the coast of Fire Island,” and invites guests to ”enjoy our bar and casual dining,  or relax outside on our patio listening to the waves, or partake in a romantic dinner in our stunning fireplace room.”

While instant dining is available, it is not recommended since waitstaff are not guaranteed to be online 24/7. Reservations must be made 24 hours in advance with a deposit. The Lighthouse offers several dining packages for groups and couples with private dining options. Our waitress, Yasmin, was professional, friendly and non-obtrusive. The menu and dining packages includes appetizers, soups, entrees, and desserts, as well as a wine list – all of which the waitstaff will rezz for you along with utensils. Chairs have a full array of animations to compliment your dining experience: dining, drinking, sitting, and even paying your bill. While the prices may be a bit rich for some, our entire dining experience only cost a little under 2000L plus tip, which is a bargain for this experience. Yasmin, our waitress, even gave us a framed photo of ourselves as a souvenir and a to-go bag with a copy of our meal.

I suppose my only complaint would be the music – the orchestral classical scores on the stream did not seem to mix well with the Lighthouse’s romantic ambiance, but I assembled an impromtu private playlist for us, and we danced to some classic melodies sung by Al Green, Sinatra, Dean Martin, etc. – the type of music my parents used to slow dance to around the house at night when they thought the kids were asleep.

If you’re looking for a unique perfect date, I strongly recommend the Lighthouse, and  congratulations to Cooper Udimo for saving a neglected landmark and giving it a Second Life.

I met Shadz Laville today, and she showed me her role play and fantasy tattoos and skins. She’s a new designer who started a unisex tattoo and female fantasy skin line – and she’s selling them for a limited time at 100.L each on Xstreet SL. Role players, photographers, or anyone who occasionally wants a unique look should check these out.
