In addition to the beautiful finalists, the Miss Bliss Couture 2010 event showcased the release of 5 stunning new formal gowns from Amutey Decuir for Bliss Couture. Varied in style, rich in textures, colors, and detail, these gowns are breathtakingly good.

I had the privilege of styling each gown in two different colors, and I traveled to 8 visually delightful sims to photograph the results. I hope you will be as enchanted with the new Bliss Couture designs as I am!

Noted designer Sissy Pessoa is known for her beautiful Italian style, whether it’s haute couture or casual. Wandering the Baiastice Sim is a delight, with multiple stores offering her clothing, shoes, skins, accessories, even poses from this multi-talented woman.

Sissy’s recent releases include a lovely full-length gown as well as stylish separates in tantalizing colors to mix and match. Her latest ankle boots and shoes are fab, too. I picked some of my favorites and styled them. Hope you like!

THE “DIVAS ONE OF A KIND AUCTION” TO BENEFIT RFL

On June 20th some of the best designers in Second Life walked the runway themselves to auction one-of-a kind designs to benefit the American Cancer Society’s RELAY FOR LIFE.  Sponsored by the Best of SL, this amazing event raised over L$1,000,000 for RFL.

Held at the stunning Patch Thibaud Auditorium, a crowd of 160 attendees…no, that’s not a misprint…enjoyed the stunning designs and the lively auction. Best of Second Life (BOSL) CEO Frolic Mills kicked off the event by teasing the designers about their ability (or the lack thereof) to walk a runway. It was all in good fun, and the designers and models enjoyed the event as much as the audience. DJ Kromus Korobase donated his services and added to the entertainment as the audio announcer, while Auctioneers CheerCoach4EjS Gymnast, Jens Marksman,  and Wenadrenia Soderstrom, who also devoted many hours helping organize and support the effort, kept the bidding flowing.

Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature activity. It offers everyone an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer. SL has taken up the cause in any number of ways, and this auction provided a great chance for attendees and designers to contribute to this worthwhile cause. Between the auction proceeds and additional donations from individuals at the event, the Divas One of a Kind Auction raised an unprecedented total of over L$1,000,000 (equivalent of over $4,000 USD).

Chairman of the Board of SL Relay For Life, Fayandria Foley told Frolic Mills, “It was perfect. A splash of society with fun and class!”

Makeover Magic

SL Cancer Survivors and SL Cancer Caregivers are working together with the FACES Creative Team and a host of talented designers, who have kindly agreed to donate items, to sponsor makeovers for a group of selected survivors and caregivers. The results will be shown at a fashion show on the American Cancer Society island at 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 7 – which is National Cancer Survivors Day.

Last year’s fashion show was held on November 2 to coincide with the official unveiling of the makeover of the American Cancer Society sim. Five cancer survivors modeled their new outfits alongside their fashion mentors. The outfits were kindly donated by leading hair, clothing, skin, shape, shoe and jewelry designers in SL.

‘Makeover Magic’ is the Second Life equivalent of a real life program, ‘Look Good…Feel Better’ – a free, community-based service in the USA that helps cancer survivors to restore their appearance and self-image during treatment.

The ‘Look Good…Feel Better’ program in real life was founded and developed in 1989 by the Personal Care Products Council, a charitable organization supported by the cosmetic industry, in cooperation with the American Cancer Society and the National Cosmetology Association (NCA).

National Cancer Survivors Day is the world’s largest cancer survivor event and is held annually in hundreds of communities throughout the world on the first Sunday in June. It is a symbolic event to demonstrate that life after a cancer diagnosis can be a reality. Please join us in support and celebration at this unique event!
