Glitz & Glamour in Costa Rica: Review

Were you there?  Did you see?  Well, if you didn’t you missed out on the very first Costa Rica Sims Production Designer Showcase of 2010 featuring the gorgeous stylings of none other than Mami Jewell’s Azul and CCD - Caithlin Carter Designs stunning jewelry; all to the sounds of none other than the fabulous DJ Azu!

Hostess Samantha Ohrberg

On the runway, Miss Costa Rica 2010Nisa Constantine led the way in the Sora gown in white. This gown was worn by Miss China Sara Tatham in the Miss Virtual World 2010 pageant. A bevy of stunning models including TraLove PinazzoFlorentine RauMillie Gears and Alexia Speizer brought the audience to thunderous applause with gowns and jewels that truly were full of glitz and glamour.

This was Millie Gears debut as a model tonight and she turned heads as she fought the lag with her fellow models, pulling it off beautifully. We received a treat when Mille modeled an upcoming release of Azul called Odette shown in jade. The gorgeous gown was available exclusively at the after party ballroom following the show. If you weren’t able to make it, then I’m afraid you’ll have to wait until January 28th. Never mind, early Valentine’s present.

TraLove Pinazzo made her presence felt showing the Dietrich gown in Amethyst. Vibrant purple shine hugs the curves and you can wear it long sleeved or no sleeves with the black fur shawl. The delicate hat and gloves really made this a standout paired with the Jennifer jewelry set from CCD.

Florentine Rau never disappoints with her fluid movements showing off the Camellia dress in Rouge to perfection and the Deliah earrings and necklace enhanced the glamour. Florentine also left mouths watering with the flirty Mia gown in purple and the enchantingly romantic Linda in Onyx.

Alexia Speizer showed how you could be glam and modern at the same time modeling Grace in silver. Not a full length, but sleek and showing plenty of leg with silver designs on the collar and arms. Alexia also modelled a bold little number called Malena. With an asymetrical cut across the body, one side is sheer with gold overlay, the other side black with accent on the shoulder and ending in a floor sweeping skirt.

This Showcase was packed. The sim was full up within minutes with more people still trying to teleport in. After a triumphant show, everyone stayed and partied on with DJ Azu for the after party, models, residents and execs mingling and shopping from the vendors set up specially for the show.

DESIGNER DUO IGNITES BOSL FASHION WEEK 2009 WITH THEIR BLAZING FALL COLLECTIONS

This show titled Cirque du Soleil (Circus of the Sun in English), was a sparkling extravaganza of sight and sound featuring two of Second Life’s most renowned designers:  Nonna Hedges (Details) and Mami Jewell (Azul).

What better venue to showcase these incredibly beautiful designs than the Patch Thibaud Auditorium, which was wonderfully transformed into an imaginative fantasy setting befitting the distinctive works of Nonna and Mami.

Well, remember I mentioned this show was an extravaganza of  sight and sound?  As a special surprise, we were treated to live music throughout the show provided by a talented Performer named Melodyblue Melody.  Ms. Melody is a First Life performer who has performed in many venues large and small.  Although relatively new to Second Life, it is clear she has a bright future here as she sings like an angel.  Her repertoire includes:  jazz, blues, R&B, and a little rock & roll.

Boulevard Agency provided the models for Cirque du Soleil.  Kay Fairey produced the show and the lovely models were;  Mimmi Boa, Summer Deadlight, Gemini Hennesy, Kyrinnia Desmoulins, Alexia Speizer, and Wenadrenia Soderstrom.

Thanks to Nonna Hedges and Mami Jewell for sharing their talents with us.  There are two more absolutely fantabulous days left of the BOSL Fashion Week 2009, you don’t want to miss a single minute…see you all there!

Fly Me to the Moon Runway Show Success

The June 28th fashion show, “Fly Me to the Moon,” held at the DC District Style Mall was fun for all who attended. The runway show featured models of the Arai Agency modeling the creations of four fine designers who have stores in the mall – Azul, Indyra Originals, Nardcotix, and Phoenix Rising.

Drakon Cortes, owner of the mall, works closely with Joie Arai to periodically promote the mall’s tenants. You can read more about the DC District Style Mall and the fashion show in the August issue of the Best of SL Magazine.

BOSL-Sponsored Auction Raises Over L$1,000,000 for RFL!

THE “DIVAS ONE OF A KIND AUCTION” TO BENEFIT RFL
========================================

On June 20th some of the best designers in Second Life walked the runway themselves to auction one-of-a kind designs to benefit the American Cancer Society’s RELAY FOR LIFE.  Sponsored by the Best of SL, this amazing event raised over L$1,000,000 for RFL.

Held at the stunning Patch Thibaud Auditorium, a crowd of 160 attendees…no, that’s not a misprint…enjoyed the stunning designs and the lively auction. Best of Second Life (BOSL) CEO Frolic Mills kicked off the event by teasing the designers about their ability (or the lack thereof) to walk a runway. It was all in good fun, and the designers and models enjoyed the event as much as the audience. DJ Kromus Korobase donated his services and added to the entertainment as the audio announcer, while Auctioneers CheerCoach4EjS Gymnast, Jens Marksman,  and Wenadrenia Soderstrom, who also devoted many hours helping organize and support the effort, kept the bidding flowing.

Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature activity. It offers everyone an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer. SL has taken up the cause in any number of ways, and this auction provided a great chance for attendees and designers to contribute to this worthwhile cause. Between the auction proceeds and additional donations from individuals at the event, the Divas One of a Kind Auction raised an unprecedented total of over L$1,000,000 (equivalent of over $4,000 USD).

Chairman of the Board of SL Relay For Life, Fayandria Foley told Frolic Mills, “It was perfect. A splash of society with fun and class!”
